Local Mental Health Authorities
The Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services operates and/funds Local Mental Health Authorities (LMHAs) as lead agencies offering a wide range of therapeutic programs and services throughout the state. LMHAs serve adults 18 years and older who suffer from serious mental disorders and who lack the financial resources to obtain services in the private sector. LMHAs are responsible for administering DMHAS-funded and contracted services in their local Catchment Area communities.
